Dr. Joel Glassman is Associate Provost
for Academic Affairs, Director of the Center
for International Studies, and Associate
Professor of Political Science, University
of Missouri-St. Louis. He received his Ph.D.
in 1974 from the University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor, after completing his dissertation
on educational policy in China. His current
research interests include: education in
China, U.S. foreign policy in East Asia,
and U.S. economic relations with the Pacific
Rim countries. As Director of the Center
for International Studies, Glassman provides
administrative leadership and exercises
responsibility for planning and coordinating
the comprehensive international education
program of the University, in consultation
with the Chancellor, Provost, and Academic
Deans. Also, he directs the University's
Office of International Student and Scholar
Services which coordinates and provides
services for international students and
scholars including recruitment, admissions,
immigration, orientation, and non-academic
advising. In addition, he is responsible
for supporting faculty research in international
studies, coordinating and supporting internationalization
of the curriculum across the campus, negotiating
and administering exchange agreements and
relations with foreign universities, directing
study abroad programs, promoting faculty
development abroad, and developing community
education programs with international focus.

Joel Glassman博士是聖路易密蘇里大學政治學教授及國際研究中心主任,同時也是南京聖路易友好姊妹城市委員會會長。
Joel Glassman博士係於1974年獲得密西根大學博士學位,專研中國教育政策,目前他的研究範圍包括中國教育,美國東亞政策和太平洋國家與美國之經濟關係。
擔任國際研究中心主任,Joel Glassman博士致力族裔間之文化交流和瞭解,經常舉辦各項文化表演及學術座談,對國際學生及學者之錄取聘用,移民問題適應問題和教學問題等均提供極大之協助。聖路易各華裔社團之多項演藝活動都獲得Joel
Glassman博士之贊助支持得以順利推行。
2001年聖路易時報成立時報文教基金會,Joel Glassman博士毅然應允擔任基金會董事,協助時報文教基金會推動各項文化文藝活動,包括芳邦大學羅振賢教授「大地情緣」畫展,中國北京中央美術學院畫家華其敏教授「西藏風情」現代國畫畫展等。
Joel Glassman博士並經常訪問中國大陸南京市,促進聖路易•南京兩市之姊妹市友誼及文化交流,去年他曾陪同密蘇里州州長Bob
Holden及聖路易市市長Francis Slay一齊訪問南京市慶祝兩市締結姊妹市五十週年。 |
