ST. LOUIS, MO - The American Diabetes Association will be hosting a Caregiver Workshop on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Carpenter's Sister Council Hall on Hampton Avenue. This workshop provides parents, teachers, babysitters, grandparents and other caregivers the opportunity to gain confidence and knowledge to care for children with diabetes.

This workshop is open to anyone who cares for a child with diabetes. Space is limited so please RSVP to 314-822-5490 x6826 before February 4, 2005. All information is presented in small groups for hands-on training on Glucagon and Hypoglycemia, Injections and Insulin Pumps, Carbohydrate Counting, Hyperglycemia and Diabetes Ketoacidosis, Glucose Monitoring and resources just for school nurses.

The Caregiver Workshop has been made possible by the American Diabetes Association with the generous support of the St. Louis Association of Diabetes Educators, the 100 Black Men, Animas Corporation, Novo Nordisk, Medtronic MiniMed, and the Carpenter's Sister Council. Approximately one in every 400-500 children and adolescents has diabetes.
