CONGRESSMAN DAVID WU
ADDRESSES VISION NEW AMERICA

Washington, DC - Today Congressman David Wu addressed members of Vision New America at a dinner in Palo Alto, California. Congressman Wu talked about the value of public service in society today and encouraged young Asian Americans to pursue public service as a career path.

"Public service is a noble and admirable career for our young people to pursue," said Congressman David Wu. "We should encourage, as Vision New America does, young Asian Americans to explore public service. By participating in the public process, both the individual and society benefit from the exchange."

Vision New America (formerly known as Vision 2000 Foundation) is a non-partisan; non-profit grassroots organization formed in 1996 whose educational programs:

* Introduce Asian Pacific American (APA) Youth to Government and Public Service

* Inform and Empower APA Voters

* Identify and Mobilize APA Community & Business Leaders.

Vision New America was founded to promote the civic participation of underrepresented ethnic groups, starting with the Asian Pacific American (APA) population. Vision New America hopes to help more Americans become involved in the community and in civic activities.

Congressman Wu is an honorary board member of Vision New America and is the past Chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.
