Dear Editor:

We are greatly disturbed and disappointed when Secretary State Condoleezza Rice announced in Tokyo yesterday that US plans to endorse Japan's membership for United Nations Security Council without demanding Japan to apologize and compensate officially to the millions of its victims.

In WWII Asia, Japan killed millions of innocent victims including women and children. It kidnapped and forced more than 200,000 Asia and Dutch women as military sex slaves. The infamous Unit 731 conducted live human experiments by using Allied POWs. The germ and chemical warfare brutalized the victims, especially the suffering anthrax victims till today. The Pearl Harbor attack, the Bataan Death March and the slave inhuman treatment of American POWs were notorious. Japan systemically ignores, distorts and even denies such war crimes and atrocities. It shows no remorse, refuses to repent and appears to be untrustworthy.

We feel strongly that unless Japan officially apologize and compensate to its aggressive war victims and American POWs, Japan does not have the moral authority and trust to become the new UN Security Council member to safeguard and maintain world peace and justice.
