        Circus Harmony: Glissando

Circus Day Foundation's annual Circus Harmony show was presented Oct. 6, 7 and 8 at City Museum. This a creative confluence of music and circus arts featured sensational circus arts performed by youth circus performers from the Circus Day Foundation accompanied by marvelous multicultural music. One of the featured musicians was zheng player Xiaoyu Yan.

The title of this year's Circus Harmony was Glissando. Glissando is a musical term that refers to gliding between two notes. For Circus Day Foundation, Glissando also referred to how their youth circus performers glided between being ordinary children and extraordinary performers. The term also represented how the music glided between cultures. There was music from China, Egypt, Russian, Africa, America and other countries.

Circus Harmony: Glissando was a totally unique, incredibly diverse and broadly appealing presentation that inspired and delighted all who witnessed it. Proceeds went to support the youth circus programs of the Circus Day Foundation, a non-profit social circus organization that uses circus arts to inspire individuals and connect communities. Circus Day Foundation’s inspirational work gives hope. Hope that people from different neighborhoods and cultures can work and live and perform together in a constructive, cooperative way to create harmony. Through their teaching and performance of circus arts they help people defy gravity, soar with confidence and leap over social barriers, all at the same time.

Circus Day Foundation offers circus classes for all ages at City Museum. They also sell inspirational circus cards featuring their youth circus performers. More information is available on their website at www.circusday.org.
