Next April, University City voters will have only one issue on the municipal ballot: to elect a second ward councilmember. Qualified residents interested in filling the vacancy must do so by submitting a $50 filing fee and a list of 50 registered voters from Ward Two. Candidates must register in person with City Clerk Joyce Pumm, 6701 Delmar, between 8am December 12; and 5pm January 16, 2007.
In August, U. City Council appointed Lynn Ricci to temporarily fill the seat vacated by Francine Brungardt who resigned in June for personal family reasons.
Cited from the City Ordinance:Vacancies in the council including that of mayor shall be filled within sixty days by the council. Said appointment shall run to the next April election at which time a successor shall be elected for the unexpired term.
