St. Louis China Hope Project Sponsors 292 Chinese students
The Hope Project Committee is sending you this Thank-you letter with your student/s report/s from China and the invitation for the Hope Project Celebration in 2007.
We are very pleased to report that we have broken another record with the donation as received this year. We have collected $9,554.00 $5,000.00 in matching funds from China to support 292 students this year. Your continuing and overwhelming support is one of the greatest demonstrations of love and compassion that the St. Louis Hope Project has seen since we started the project in 1999. This year, we have many returning sponsors and many new first time sponsors as well. Our sponsors are mostly from Missouri, but we have sponsors from Florida, Ohio, California, New York, South Carolina, and China. We also have Schweitzer United Methodist Church from Springfield which sponsors a student, Gitano, an Arts organization which sponsors four students, and a class from St. Louis Modern Chinese Language School which sponsors two students. Once again, we have received the matching funds from Mr. Zhang Jianbo, CEO from Hunan University of International Economy, China.
Many of you may remember that this project started in 1999 with a few people supporting a few students. The wonderful generosity and kindness of American and Chinese sponsors keeps bringing love and hope to children who otherwise have little hope in life. As a comparison, we can see clearly the growth of our project in the past few years. In 2004, we received $7, 800.00 donations to support 156 students, which was a 120% increase from what we had in 2003. In 2005, we collected almost $8,000.00 plus $5000.00 in matching funds to support 260 students. This year we have collected $14, 554.00 in matching funds enough to support 292 students. In March of 2006, Dr. Ronald Smith from St. Louis personally handed the donations to one hundred students in two school districts in China.
We appreciate all of our sponsors, and we welcome new sponsors. With your donation, you can make a big difference in someone's life forever, and research has shown that giving helps us live healthier and happier. Now we would like to ask you to talk to your friends who might join us in our effort in 2007. We have scheduled our Hope Dinner on Sunday, February 11, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at the Joy Luck Restaurant. For people who would like to sponsor a student ($55.00 per student since the exchange rate is lower) and make a donation, please make your check payable to: St. Louis Chinese Association and send it to: P.O.
