謝謝吳秀卿老師的推薦, 聖路易中文學校的舞獅, 舞龍隊應Dillon 國際兒童領養中心邀請, 在一月六日, 星期六提供新年晚餐表演節目. 學校非常感謝舞獅, 舞龍隊的參與及精彩的表演.
隊員們依照慣例,提早好幾個小時到場準備, 配合場地自己設計表演. 表演之前, 隊員們還非正式地教觀眾們扯中國鈴.
舞獅隊長潘麗莎簡介舞獅文化後, 南方廣東雙獅和六個臺灣閉口小獅, 配合鑼鼓聲, 揭開演出序幕, 他們在台上台下歡騰 跳躍, 並且穿梭餐桌,吸引了上百位大人和小孩的注意. 潘麗莎穿插了一則中國笑話以後, 學生自編自舞的舞龍亮相, 舞龍隊長鄭一德和龍珠、康巴福也簡介了舞龍源由,全隊再度發揚了合作無間的精神.
舞獅, 舞龍表演以後,觀眾隨興 敲鑼打鼓, 用臺灣閉口小獅和中國扯鈴玩樂,或和獅龍照相. 觀眾與隊員們熱熱鬧鬧地同歡.
學校也謝謝舞獅, 舞龍隊家長袁秀青,馮詠梅和康淑榕帶了點心給隊員們分享, 馮詠梅, 趙艷芬,熊靜,粱曉烽和巴馬克錄影或照相, 巴馬克和康巴福修補獅頭, 康淑榕縫製獅身和腰帶, 家長們將獅身連上獅頭等, 大家齊心合力的幫忙舞獅, 舞龍隊的活動.
Thanks to the recommendation of our teacher, Wu, XiuQin, the Lion & Dragon Dance Teams of The St. Louis Chinese Language School were invited by the Dillon International Adopting Agency to perform at their annual New Year's dinner banquet which was held on Sat. Jan. 6, 2007. The School truly thanks the Team members and the parents who participated and/or helped with this event. The Lion and Dragon Dance members performed marvelously.
As usual, Team members arrived a few hours early to prepare and they designed the performances themselves based on the size and layout of the room, including such obstacles as tables, chairs, and stage height and location. Prior to the performances, they informally played with Chinese Yo-yos and helped the audience learn to play with the Yo-yo's too.
During the half an hour performance, Lisa Pan, (Captain of the Lion Dance), briefly introduced the cultural and different kinds of Lion Dances. Then, two southern Cantonese lucky lions and six Taiwanese closed mouth lions followed the "Big Head" and danced their way into the room. The drum and instruments played loud enough to energize the room but not too loud to scare the younger members of the audience. Our team performed on and off the stage and danced in between the dinner tables to entertain over 150 members in the audience. Lisa did an excellent job filling the time between the Lion Dance and Dragon Dance performances by telling a Chinese joke. Our Dragon Dance majestically performed its routine after Andrew Zheng, (Captain of the Dragon Dance), and Kristofer Butler, (Dragon Pearl performer), briefly explained the differences between different dragon dances.Our Teams not only entertained, but also educated the audiences!
After our performances, the children in the audience were invited to try on the Taiwanese closed mouth lions, play the instruments, and play with the Chinese Yo-yos. Obviously, our team warmed up the children for they played the instruments LOUDLY! Many parents took photos of their children with the lions and dragon. And the audience gained some new experience while having a busy and wonderful time.
