The Neighborhood Leadership Academy offers current and future leaders of neighborhood, community, and public sector organizations the opportunity to design community improvement projects for their neighborhoods under the guidance of experienced instructors. The participants learn and apply best practices in this hands-on, practical experience. The NLA will be held on selected Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays, February 20-May 14, at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, One University Blvd. (8001 Natural Bridge Road) and a few community sites.
Participants complete a personal leadership development plan, design a community-building project, and make a presentation about their work to the class. During and after the Academy, they learn about and pursue community-building resources and relation貞hips for their neighborhoods. Plus, NLA staff provides ongoing technical assistance for community projects, as well as opportunities for continued networking and connecting to resources.
The NLA is sponsored by the UM-St. Louis Community Partnership Project, Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program, and Division of Continuing Education, and University of Missouri Extension.
The fee for attending the NLA is $300 for community volunteers and $500 for community organization staff. The fee includes a box dinner at the Monday and Tuesday sessions and continental breakfast at the Saturday sessions.
The registration deadline is February 13. For more information, call (314) 516-6590 or visit www.umsl.edu/cpp/nla.
