The St. Louis Community College Foundation Board of Directors will host a special fundraiser Saturday, July 28.
The "Taste of Class" is slated 6-11 p.m. in the World's Fair Pavilion in Forest Park. It will feature a five-course dinner, dancing and a live auction that will include fine art and chef's table dining opportunities. The dinner will be catered by Bryan Young of Catering Plus, who is a graduate of the culinary arts program at college's Forest Park campus, and will include a buffet of hand-crafted desserts prepared by the Forest Park culinary arts faculty and students.
Tickets are $100 per person or table of 10 for $1,000. Sponsorship opportunities ranging from $1,500 to $25,000 also are available. Vincent J. Bommarito of Tony's Restaurant serves as the honorary chair of the "Taste of Class" event; co-chairs are Becky Kueker, principal with Arcturis, and Jim Reh, vice president of physical facilities at Centene Corp.
Proceeds from the event will aid construction of the new Harrison Education Center in the JeffVanderLou neighborhood as well as student scholarships. The college's culinary arts program, founded more than 40 years ago by the late Jack E. Miller, is one of the most respected in the nation. More than 600 students annually are enrolled in culinary arts, hotel and restaurant management, and travel and tourism.
