The St. Louis American has garnered one of its most prestigious honors in its 80-year history. The American was named runner up by Suburban Newspapers of America for Newspaper of the Year, out of all weekly newspapers in North America with circulation above 37,500. First place went to a Canadian newspaper, but the American placed first in its class of all papers in the U.S. Of the 18 newspapers that received awards in this competition, the St. Louis American was the only independent newspaper. |
