ST. LOUIS - The Missouri Department of Transportation will close westbound I-64/Route 40 between Long Road in St. Louis County and Route 94 in St. Charles County for an inspection on Saturday, Sept. 27- Sunday, Sept. 28. Crews will close the road both days from 5:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. The entrance ramp from Chesterfield Airport Road to westbound I-64/Route 40 and the entrance ramp from Boone's Crossing to westbound I-64/Route 40 will also be closed. All work is weather permitting.
The closure is to allow bridge inspection crews to complete the annual Boone Bridge inspection and to complete a recent Federal Highway Administration recommended inspection for all truss bridges in the United States. The recommended inspection is due to analysis of data from the Minneapolis I-35W bridge collapse in August 2007.
The signed detour for this closure is to take eastbound I-64/Route 40 to eastbound (northbound) I-270 and then take I-270 to westbound I-70.
