WHAT: Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Training (Adult)
WHEN: Saturday, October 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital12634 Olive Blvd. - St. Louis, MO
WHY: This course trains Lay Responders to recognize and respond to emergency situations and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults (persons over 12 years of age) by providing care to help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. You will learn to care for conscious and unconscious choking victims, perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. The course also includes identifying and treating shock, stroke, diabetic emergencies, heat and cold related emergencies, poisoning and allergic reactions. In addition, you will learn to control bleeding, care for a muscle, bone or joint injury, and care for a head, neck or back injury. Students will receive a CPR/AED-Adult certificate valid for one year and First Aid certificate valid for three years.
NOTE: If you only need CPR/AED-Adult, you may register for the first 4.5 hours of the course (cost $42). If you only need First Aid Component, you may register for the last 2 hours of the course (cost $31).ALSO: The cost of this class is $53. Please note that all participants must pre-pay in order to reserve a space in the class. No walk-ins accepted.
