Crowds at the Tivoli, and Washington and Webster universities saw packed houses during the 17th annual St. Louis International Film Festival. Cliff Froehlich, executive director of the festival, reports 19,000 people attended the 10-day event, an increase from last year's attendance of 15,500. Froehlich attributes much of the increased success to publicity from nontraditional sources such as bloggers and to higher quality films. St. Louis has become a regional launching pad for year-end releases, and major studios and distributors are taking advantage of this opportunity. |
