WHO: FUN, FUN, FUN! As part of the new SLSO Presents Series, the sun-tanned music of The Beach Boys is coming to Powell Hall for one night only on Wednesday, May 13th! Original members Mike Love and Bruce Johnston lead the classic sounds of summer with endless harmonies, big waves and good vibrations. Often called "America's Band," The Beach Boys have had 36 Top 40 hits (the most of any U.S. rock band) and have continued to bring their sunny brand of musical fun to audiences for more than 48 years.
As Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees, The Beach Boys first hit the airwaves in 1961 with the Top 100 song "Surfin'." The band went on to have an amazing eleven Top 10 singles between 1963 and 1968, including unforgettable hits such as "I Get Around," "Help Me Rhonda" and "Good Vibrations." In 1988, The Beach Boys released "Kokomo," the band's best selling single to date. Performing an impressive 150 shows each year, The Beach Boys continue to make waves. In 2006, the band released Sounds of Summer, an RIAA certified double platinum album with over two million in sales and climbing.
