Now is the time to start planning your daughter's summer camp vacation with Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri (GSEM)! Girls can participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor camp activities such as horseback riding, canoeing, theatre arts, underwater SCUBA challenges, sleeping under the stars, plus much more! Also available are one-day programs called Larks that focus on a special activity or interest and can be registered for individually.
Each year parents choose to send their daughters to Girl Scout camp for enriching opportunities to help girls become tomorrow's leaders. Girls choose to attend Girl Scout camp because they know they'll have a blast, create lasting friendships and build a lifetime of memories.GSEM has two American Camp Association (ACA) accredited resident camps - Camp Cedarledge and Tuckaho - that offer a variety of programs and activities to meet every girl's interests, like swimming, hiking, geocaching, canoeing, sports, arts and crafts and horseback riding. Resident camp programs range in length from three days to one month.
Included in this summer session is a special Camp CEO - a leadership program where girls can learn from successful senior-level females in various industries while having fun, participating in adventuresome programs and building team work skills. Camp CEO takes place July 24-28 at Camp Tuckaho.
Also, for the third year, GSEM is teaming up with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley to offer STEPS day camp, an exciting week-long day camp - focused on science, technology and engineering.Girls can also choose from more than two hundred one-day Larks, which take girls on fun, educational adventures throughout eastern Missouri. Girls may join a simulated space mission, learn new gymnastic techniques, tour an organic vegetable garden, take a bike ride on a Missouri bike trail, ride a Segway and much more.
Girl Scout camp has programs and activities for girls in kindergarten through grade 12 and provides them with experiences that help them develop confidence, cooperation and responsibility. Girl Scout camp appeals to all abilities, budgets and personal schedules. Financial assistance is available.
All girls are invited to register for Girl Scout camp and do NOT have to be a current member to participate. Registration is by mail and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Online registration is available for current Girl Scout members.GSEM's resident camps are accredited by the ACA, which means they have met or exceeded the camp profession's highest standards in up to 300 areas including health, safety and program quality.
