【時報訊】聖路易大學城前市議員Shelley Welsch宣佈參選下屆大學城市市長。選舉起跑造勢活動於五月卄日(周三)下午五時在大學城Heman公園舉行，多位選舉義工及熱情支持民眾參與。聖路易華埠平安保險公司負責人黃亞孟亦來到公園會場為Welsch女士加油打氣，義工朋友分發傳單及別針為選情加溫，現場氣氛熱烈。
Shelley Welsch此次系二度出馬競選大學城市長，三年前(2006年)她以些微票數輸給現任市長Joseph Adams同時失去市議員職位，但是Welsch並不氣餒，仍然堅持參與公眾事務，積極不斷為市民服務，累積人脈，匯聚支持，由於現任市長Joseph Adamas，決定不再競選連任，已知要參選市長的另二位候選人市議員Bob Wagner及Terry Crow尚未展開公開活動。Welsch女士先馳得點掌握先機造勢成功，對市長寶座志在必得。
大學城市長選舉日期為明(2010)年4月。
挑戰市長寶座的Shelley Welsch是一位女性，於2000年首次當選大學城第二選區市議員，並擔任Green Center綠色中心環保機構主席，她畢業於密蘇里大學歷史系，曾任職ABC新聞廣播16年，在市議員任內推動大學城世紀公園Centennial Park公民諮詢委員會，並遊說大學城成立經濟發展委員會，鼓勵市民參與市政，Shelley Welsh積極參與 Olive商業協會(OBA)各項活動和會議，與亞裔社區和Olive大道華商各界關係良好。
Welsch女士競選標語為「Because Results Matter」「我們要看到結果」，她同時提出多項改革計劃，希望獲得選民的支持與認同。
