Sue missed the Saint Louis Science Center so much, that its back this summer! The wildly popular exhibition A T. rex Named Sue is now open, complete with new additions sure to impress both first-time and returning visitors.
The centerpiece of A T. rex Named Sue is the amazing 42 feet long and 13 feet high fully-articulated cast skeleton of the famous T. rex. New attractions include a fleshed out, 3D artist's rendering of what scientists believed Sue's head looked like, newly added T. rex fossils, real paleontological tools and fossils of Upper Cretaceous creatures discovered in the Midwest. Also new is the chance to touch a 300 lb. meteorite, similar to the meteor scientists suspect may have killed the dinosaurs.
Once visitors recover from the awe of their first glimpse of Sue, they can look a whopping five-foot-long skull right in the eye. Interactive machines and pods illustrate how Sue saw, smelled, ate and moved. Both children and adults will leave with a better understanding of what life was like when Sue roamed the earth. Visitors can dig for and clean their own fossils in the Dino Dig and Paleo Lab areas or design a dino creation to take home in the craft area.
