【時報訊】Hazelwood學區將於8月8日週六10:00 a.m.--3:00 p.m.在Jamestown Mall舉行年度學生返校園遊會。
本園遊會由Hazelwood學區和家長教師協會(Parent Teacher Association Council)聯合承辦，學區內學生和家長均可免費參加。屆時，每個參會學校都有自己的諮詢台，介紹本校相關具體資訊，包括學生制服、學校設備、學生團體及活動、校車路線、早午餐情況等。現場還給學生提供疫苗注射，也接受新生入學註冊。將於8月1日上任的代理學監Dr. Mary Piper也會到場和廣大學生與家長見面。
本次園遊會時間與密蘇里學生返校購買學習生活用品免稅期(MO Back to School Sales Tax Holiday)系同一個週末。密蘇里法令Section 144.049規定，每年八月第一個週五淩晨12:01到周日午夜，密蘇里州為期三天免收學生返校學習生活用品營業稅，具體物品限於服裝（每件不超過$100）、學習用品（每次不超過$50）、電腦軟體（不超過$350)、個人電腦及外置設備(不超過$3,500)。
州內各縣市可自由選擇是否參加該免稅優惠。如果參加，州稅和市稅均可免除；如果不參加，州稅部分(4.225%)仍可免除。如需更多資訊，請參閱http://dor.mo.gov/tax/business/sales/taxholiday/school/
參加園遊會的還有以下社團和組織： 美國童子軍(Boy Scouts of America)、Emerson Family YMCA、Spanish Lake Community Association 和密蘇里大學聖路易分校大學前素質培養專案辦公室(Brdge Pre-Collegiate Program)。
Hazelwood 學區有學生近19,000人，系聖路易縣第二大學區。其所轄區域包括Hazelwood, Black Jack, Spanish Lake, Florissant大片地區, Bridgeton部分地區, Bellefontaine Neighbors 和 Ferguson等。Hazelwood 學區以鞭策學生追求高標準、公平正直及優秀卓越為己任。
Hazelwood School District hosting annual Back-to-School Fair at Jamestown Mall
The Hazelwood School District will host its annual Back-to-School Fair at Jamestown Mall on Saturday, August 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for parents and students, the same weekend as the Missouri Annual Tax Holiday.
Each school within the District will have an informational booth with details about uniform policies, school supplies, clubs and activities, bus routes, breakfast and lunch, and more. Students can get immunizations and parents will be able to enroll new students.
District parents and families will have an opportunity to meet Dr. Mary Piper, interim superintendent, who will begin her new position August 1.
Several community and non-profit organizations are participating in the fair: Boy Scouts of America, Emerson Family YMCA, Spanish Lake Community Association and University of Missouri-St. Louis Bridge Pre-Collegiate Program.
The HSD Back-to-School Fair is free and open to all District parents and students. The fair is supported by the Hazelwood School District and the Parent Teacher Association Council.
*The Hazelwood School District serves nearly 19,000 students and is the second largest district in St. Louis County. Communities in the district include Hazelwood, Black Jack, Spanish Lake, a large section of Florissant, portions of Bridgeton, Bellefontaine Neighbors and Ferguson, and several square miles of unincorporated St. Louis County. The mission of the Hazelwood School District is to launch learners on a quest for high standards, fairness and distinguished achievement.
*Section 144.049, RSMo, establishes a sales tax holiday during a three-day period beginning at 12:01 a.m. on the first Friday in August and ending at midnight on the Sunday following. Certain back-to-school purchases, limited to clothing (any article having a taxable value of $100 or less), school supplies (not to exceed $50 per purchase), computer software (taxable value of $350 or less), personal computers (not to exceed $3,500) and computer peripheral devices (not to exceed $3,500), are exempt from sales tax for this time period only.
The sales tax holiday applies to state and local sales taxes when a local jurisdiction chooses to participate in the holiday. However, local jurisdictions can choose to not participate in the holiday. If one or all of your local taxing jurisdictions are not participating in the sales tax holiday, the state's portion of the tax rate (4.225%) will remain exempt for the sale of qualifying sales tax holiday items.
