【時報訊】密蘇里州阿茲海默協會日前在密州首府傑佛森市頒獎予州議員Maria Chappelle-Nadal，表彰她在2009年議會會期間成功領導推動HB272法案，促使密州成立阿茲海默專案組織。
HB272法案由密州州長Jay Nixon簽署生效，成立一個為數19人之專案組織，研究阿茲海默症對密州此一病症病患之衝擊和提供密州衛生廳及耆老服務機構有關照顧和改善阿茲海默症之推薦和改善措施。
聖路易大學城州議員Maria表示，密蘇里州阿茲海默症患者或類似病症患者超過11萬人，我們必須對此症狀提出警訊並暸解病患及家屬之需要。Maria的家族中就有人罹患阿茲海默症。
Alzheimer's Association gives Chappelle-Nadal leadership award
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - During a ceremony today in the Missouri Capitol, the Missouri Alzheimer's Association honored state Rep. Maria Chappelle-Nadal with its Leadership of the Year Award for her sponsorship of 2009 legislation that created the Alzheimer's State Plan Task Force.
HB 272, which Gov. Jay Nixon signed into law, established a 19-member task force to access the impact of Alzheimer's disease on Missouri patients and caregivers and make recommendations to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on strategies for improving treatment and services.
"With more than 110,000 Missourians suffering with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, few Missouri families aren't in some way touched by this affliction," said Chappelle-Nadal, D-University City. "We must do what we can to build awareness of the disease and understand the needs of patients and caregivers."
