"Living the Dream" by Gitana Productions at City Hall

In honor of Black History Month, Gitana Productions performed an original play Living the Dream at City Hall Friday February 19th. The performance emphasized the principles of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. applying to all aspects of life including the home, community, schools, and the globe.

Living the Dream featured a diverse group of talented young performers representing Haiti, China, and the United States. The play was based upon real life stories shared by the youth performers. With the collaboration of music, dance, and drama, the play promoted messages of harmony and nonviolence across cultures.

The original play was written by Lee Patton Chiles and was a wonderful highlight to Black History Month. Gitana Productions is recognized as the first St. Louis community arts program. This St. Louis non-profit arts and education company engages diverse communities in cross-cultural collaborations using performing arts. Gitana has been highly recognized by local arts funding organizations and corporations.

Most importantly, Living the Dream illustrated positive social relationships and cross-cultural understanding among the youth of St. Louis.
