St. Louis County Economic Council Hires New General Counsel

        April 12, 2010, (St. Louis, MO) St. Louis County Economic Council has named Andrew C. Ruben to be its general counsel. He also will serve as counsel to its board of directors and the governing boards of the other entities under the Economic Council's umbrella.

        In this role, Ruben will coordinate the legal services vital to the Economic Council's goal of promoting sustainable economic development projects. Ruben brings a comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and municipal laws - particularly those relating to economic development, financing tools, contracts, lending, and real estate.

        "I am extremely pleased Andrew has joined our team," said St. Louis County Economic Council President & CEO Denny Coleman. "His expertise will help guide our organization's key business initiatives, meet legal requirements and move economic development forward."

        Previously, Ruben spent 10 years in private practice at Bryan Cave LLP and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where he worked for many of the region's largest companies in the areas of general corporate law, corporate finance and securities, real estate development and acquisitions, commercial litigation and arbitration, project finance and complex commercial construction. He also has substantial international deal experience, counseling clients with respect to real estate development projects in Canada, Mexico and the European Union.

        He earned bachelor and master of music degrees from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Ruben is an accomplished cellist, performing over 300 chamber music concerts around the world as a founding member and cellist of the Rackham String Quartet. Ruben currently serves on the board as treasurer of The Wilson School.
