St. Louis, MO / August 2, 2010 - Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation is offering a second Kids' Night on Broadway in 2010! The next event will be Saturday, September 11 at 2 p.m. You receive a child's ticket FREE with each purchase of an adult ticket to see the irresistible "SHREK the Musical." This offer is only available at the Fox Theatre box office. Special Buy One/Get One dining discounts are also offered by twelve participating restaurants located conveniently in the Grand Center district and Central West End. The curtain goes up at 2 p.m. but beginning at 12:30 p.m., there will be pre-show activities in the lobby including a special story area where kids can meet characters from the show, the Radio Disney Road Crew, make-up, photo areas and more! Kids' Night on Broadway is presented locally by the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation who provides a free souvenir for each kid in attendance. The Foundation was created solely for the purpose of promoting the performing arts through grants to various non-profit performing arts organizations in the region, Broadway Master Classes and through producing live, performance-based events.
The Kids' Night on Broadway program was initiated by The Broadway League in New York City. Since its inception, Kids' Night on Broadway has carried the message that Broadway is an exciting and accessible experience for both kids and adults, with Kids' Night on Broadway events occurring nationwide throughout the year including New York City. "SHREK the Musical" is coming to the Fabulous Fox Theatre September 11 -26, 2010. Set in a faraway kingdom, things turn upside down and get ugly when an unseemly ogre - not a handsome prince - shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won't shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there's one on hand and his name is Shrek! Full of all-new songs, this part romance, part twisted fairy tale based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film is "Big Fun" for everyone!
