Dick Fleming, RCGA President and CEO, (pictured) spoke at the 14th Annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) to promote the St. Louis Climate Prosperity Project and show examples of our regional green economy. This 4-day investment forum in Xiamen, China attracted some 50,000 participants, including 15,000 individuals from other countries.
Fleming described the framework of the St. Louis Climate Prosperity Project and the initiatives led by the RCGA, which include the St. Louis Green Business Challenge, the Green LMI Project and the Green Economy Profile (see related stories). He presented the results of the St. Louis Green Economy Profile, which identified a 54% growth in employment between 1995-2008 in the regional "core green economy," compared to 4% in the overall economy. He said this growth is an example of the economic benefits of pursing a climate prosperity strategy. He shared with the international audience profiles of St. Louis area companies and our region's leadership in plant science, ag-tech, and advanced clean-energy technology. |
