The Moonrise Hotel in the East Delmar Loop in St. Louis
The Moonrise Hotel in the East Delmar Loop section of St. Louis lays claim to being the "greenest hotel in the region." Steve Butcher, General Manager, and Jarah Warfield, Lead Reservationist at Moonrise Hotel, demonstrated green hospitality to the Challenge teams. The Moonrise participates in the Global Soap Project where housekeepers collect used soap and donate it to aid organizations that distribute the reclaimed soap to refugees around the world.
The Moonrise also participates in Operation Food Search and donates excess prepared food from their Eclipse Restaurant. Recycling containers are in each Moonrise room and linens are cleaned in high efficiency dryers. The Moonrise Hotel is a platinum partner in AmerenUE's Pure Power program, offsetting their electricity usage with renewable energy credits. The hotel is also exploring a solar array on their rooftop. To reduce the size of their glass waste, the hotel has installed an innovative glass crusher which reduces its volume by 95%.
