Fontbonne University has named its campus library after Enterprise Holdings founder Jack Taylor, who has made more than $1 million in gifts to the Catholic liberal arts university located in Clayton.
"We are honored to name our central academic building after a man who represents courage, competency, conviction and a compelling desire for excellence," said Fontbonne President Dennis Golden, in a statement.
The Jack C. Taylor Library houses an extensive collection of resources, including the largest computer lab on Fontbonne's campus, which links students to more than 95,000 volumes through a consortium of 62 libraries throughout Missouri. The building also contains classrooms, offices, conference rooms and the Lewis Auditorium.
Enterprise Holdings, led by Chairman and CEO Andy Taylor, operates the Alamo Rent A Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental brands. It posted $12.6 billion in revenue for fiscal 2010, up 4 percent from $12.1 billion in 2009. Enterprise Holdings is the St. Louis region's largest privately-held company, based on 2009 revenue. The company, through its regional subsidiaries, operates more than 1 million cars and trucks - the largest fleet of passenger vehicles in the world today.
Fontbonne University was founded in 1923 and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. It offers liberal arts and professional programs.
