Almost 25,000 people spread across 350 family and corporate teams enjoyed brisk fall weather, blue skies and a festive atmosphere at the 16th Annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk To Cure Diabetes on Sunday, October 3rd in Forest Park.
Marie Davis, JDRF Executive Director of the Metro Saint Louis/Greater Missouri Chapter has set a goal of $1.4 million for diabetes research.
"Type 1 diabetes is usually associated with children, but half of all new cases are diagnosed in people over the age of 18. JDRF is the leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research because we are the largest non-government funder of diabetes research in the world. With so many great families, corporations and volunteers supporting our research, we know it's only a matter of time until we have the therapeutics to treat, cure and ultimately prevent diabetes," said Marie Davis.
