In addition to the county executive race in St. Louis County, local voters will be faced with several candidate races on Nov. 2.
At the state level, two Missouri political dynasties will face off as Democrat Robin Carnahan and Republican Roy Blunt both seek election as U.S. senator. Also on the ballot are Libertarian Jonathan Dine and Jerry Beck of the Constitution Party.
State Auditor Susan Montee, a Democrat, is seeking re-election against challengers Tom Schweich, a Republican, and Libertarian Charles W. Baum.
In the race for Representative of U.S. District 1, incumbent William "Lacy" Clay seeks to fend off Republican Robyn Hamlin and Libertarian Julie Stone. In U.S. District 3, Rep. Russ Carnahan, a Democrat, is facing challenges from Republican Ed Martin, Libertarian Steven R. Hedrick and Constitution Party member Nicholas J. Ivanovich.
Closer to home, Sen. Joe Keaveny, a Democrat, is facing a challenge from independent candidate Nick P. Gartelos in the state's 4th District, while in District 24, Democrat Barbara Fraser and Republican John T. Lamping are battling it out on the ballot. Democrat Maria Chappelle-Nadal is running unopposed in District 14.
In the Missouri House of Representatives, Democrat Susan Carlson, Republican Patricia Verde and Mark Robert Opheim of the Constitution Party are all seeking election in District 64, while incumbent State Rep. Stacey Newman, a Democrat, seeks to fend off her Republican challenger, Daniel F. O'Sullivan Jr., in District 73. Democrat Rory Ellinger is running unopposed in the 72nd District.
At the county level, Democrat Pat Dolan and Republican Randy Jotte are seeking to fill an empty seat in the St. Louis County Council's 5th District, while incumbent Hazel Erby is running unopposed in the 1st District. Robert P. McCulloch is running unopposed for prosecuting attorney.
In city of St. Louis races, Gregory F.X. Daly is running for re-election as collector of revenue, Michael McMillan is seeking re-election as license collector, Sharon Quigley Carpenter is running for recorder of deeds and Jane Schweitzer is running for clerk of the circuit court. All are Democrats and all are unopposed.
Voters will also be asked to choose two new members of the St. Louis Schools Board of Education. Candidates for the board are: Donna R. Jones, Bill Monroe, Todd Evans, Douglass Petty, William "Bill" Haas and Derek Craft. |
