Perhaps as early as June, a China Cargo Airlines plane will touch down at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, the first manifestation of an enterprise that the St. Louis business and political communities dearly hope will become a vital part of the region's future economy. This is the "China Hub" concept, in the works now for five years: When Chinese manufacturers need to ship time-sensitive goods to customers in the middle of the United States, the flights will land at Lambert instead of crowded, congested and often weather-bound O'Hare Airport in Chicago. |
