The Saint Louis County Department of Revenue is offering a new service that allows individuals residing in Saint Louis County to file their personal property declarations online instead of mailing them back to the Assessor's office.
Business personal property declarations must still be submitted in the usual paper format.
Personal property owners residing in Saint Louis County on January 1, 2011, are required by state law to declare their personal property. The information on the declaration form is used to correctly prepare the personal property tax bills mailed later in the year.
As in prior years, paper forms have been mailed to Saint Louis County residents to list the personal property owned on January 1. All declarations must be returned by March 1, even if there has been no change in assets from the prior year.
However, individuals residing in Saint Louis County now have the option of filling out that form online instead of using the paper version. Those who wish to utilize the online option instead of mailing back the paper form may do so by going to http://revenue.stlouisco.com and click on the link to "Online Personal Property Declaration".
After property owners create a Revenue account, they simply sign in, and proceed with the online declaration. Anyone with questions will find phone numbers and email addresses along the way to receive help if needed. |
