St. Louis is one of 24 cities worldwide chosen to receive an "IBM Smarter Cities Challenge Grant". The winning cities get access to some of IBM's top experts who recommend ways to make them better places to live and work.
Mayor Slay's Spokeswoman tells KMOX that six experts will spend three weeks in St. Louis, analyzing the city's public safety efforts, including the police department, the courts and even human services. They will then recommend ways to streamline and improve those services.
An official announcement is scheduled for Friday morning.
