Boeing gives $2M to Japan quake relief

Boeing Co. said it will give $2 million for recovery efforts in the aftermath of last week's earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The Chicago-based aerospace giant (NYSE: BA) said the funds will come from its Boeing Company Charitable Trust and employee contributions.

"Through the generosity of our employees and funds provided by the company, we will support immediate needs for emergency supplies, food and medical care through the American Red Cross and help ease the enormous task of longer-term recovery and reconstruction," said Jim McNerney, Boeing chairman, president and CEO, in a statement.

Boeing said it has 200 employees in Japan.
