Master Feng Xiuqian visited St. Louis Midwest HunYuan School

Master Feng Xiuqian recently visited the Midwest HunYuan School located in St. Louis, Mo. She was accompanied by Master Feng Disciple Michael Dorgan (San Jose, Calif) and his wife. They were hosted by HunYuan Taiji disciples and students of Zhang XueXin (San Francisco) J. Justin Meehan, Herb Parran, Cis Hager and Jim Gera.

Master Feng Xiuqian: a resident of Beijing is the daughter of Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang, widely regarded as one of the greatest living Taiji masters. Xiuqian has a deep and detailed knowledge of the Hunyuan Taiji system created by her father that blends traditional Chen-style Taiji with XinyiQuan and qigong. She is vice-secretary general of the Chen-style TaijiQuan Research Association and an instructor at the Feng Zhiqiang Martial Arts Academy in Beijing. She presented workshops on HunYuan Taiji 24 form, QiGong and Sword.

She also was invited to address the Dance Dept. of Webster University by its Director, Professor Becka Reed. The dance students had been studying HunYuan Taiji/Qigong as part of its University course curriculum, taught by J. Justin Meehan. The students were treated to a lively demonstration by Master Feng and she answered many questions by the dance students and faculty. She then went on to teach HunYuan form, Qigong and Sword to the MidWest HunYuan students of St. Louis HunYuan Taiji/QiGong Association. She even had a private invitation only class with the HunYuan women students. Everyone was very impressed with her presentation, knowledge and personal kindness to all involved.

An award winning writer, Violet Li, from the famous Kung Fu Tai Chi magazine interviewed her and wrote an article for the Examiner. Women Taiji students were especially happy because it is not often that they have had the opportunity to study with such an accomplished female Master. They were also very happy to know that Master Feng was also an important official in the HunYuan Taiji Organization. She then went on to California where she and Michael Dorgan were honored with a private friendship dinner with Master Zhang Xue Xin and his top students and disciples in San Francisco.

Master Feng was a truly effective good will ambassador for Grand Master Feng Zhiqiang and the HunYuan Taiji/Qigong Assoiciation. She made many new friends and renewed ties with many old friends. She invited all to attend the Fourth HunYuan Conference to be held in Beijing, China is Oct 2011 and many said they would attend, thanks to her personal invitation.
