| The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is the City of St. Louis government agency that offers job seekers and businesses a variety of no-cost services related to employment, job training, and career advancement. |

The city has made another move to consolidate government services with St. Louis County, announcing today a partnership between the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment and the county's department of human services.
Specifically, the SLATE's career center will partner with the county's business development department.
The goal, according to the release from the Mayor Francis Slay's office, is "to eliminate redundancies and enhance services available to businesses in St. Louis City and the St. Louis County, such as screening and assessments to help hire skilled workers, on-the-job training of new employees and assistance with obtaining tax credits for hiring individuals with barriers to employment."
SLATE's executive director and the county's workforce investment director signed a memo of understanding last week.
County WIB Executive Director Gene Gorden said that the new partnership will "develop better connections with local business" and "help position the Missouri Career Centers as valuable players in the regional Workforce Development arena," according to the release.
SLATE Director Michael Holmes said, with budget cuts across the country, "it makes sense for us to work together. St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and the Missouri Department of Work force Development should be one team," in the release. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, 05/03/11)
