"Aerotropolis" Chinese Cargo Hub At Lambert Airport One Step Closer To Reality

Missouri Senate and House Leaders hold joint news conference on Wednesday to announce agreement on statewide economic development bill to include incentives for plant & life sciences, data centers, amateur sports events, and Aerotropolis, as well as Long-ebated tax credit reform.
        St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - A plan to make Lambert-St. Louis International Airport a Chinese cargo hub is moving forward and it could bring several thousand jobs to Missouri.

        City and state officials called the plan an "historic jobs bill" during a Wednesday afternoon news conference at the airport.

        The program, called "Aerotropolis", would create more than 20,000 jobs by turning Lambert Airport into an international trade hub for Missouri and Midwest exports and distribution.

        The bill would also subsidize the cost of building warehouses to house foreign trade.

        Governor Jay Nixon said he will call a special session to consider the new legislation.
