Southwest Airlines adds St. Louis-Milwaukee flights

        Southwest Airlines, the busiest carrier at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, said Tuesday (September 6, 2011) it added two daily roundtrips between St. Louis and Milwaukee.

        Southwest (NYSE: LUV) currently serves St. Louis with 86 daily nonstop departures to 31 cities with additional direct or connecting service to 40 cities.

        Also on Tuesday, Southwest launched a fall airfare sale with one-way fares as low as $59. Southwest is requiring a 10-day advanced purchase, and the tickets must be bought between now and Sept. 8. There are other restrictions as well: Travel must be made on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Saturdays through Dec. 14. There also is a blackout period from Nov. 17-28.

        Based in Dallas, Southwest operates more than 3,400 flights a day and has more than 35,000 employees.
