University City will screen the movie "ET" in Heman Park at its final free movie night on October 1. Showtime is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The evening event also will include at least three food trucks on-site to provide convenient dinner options for moviegoers. Food vendors will begin sales at 5:30 p.m. Participating food vendors include Street Life Food (which sells burgers & fries, egg rolls, burritos, chicken wings, spaghetti and seafood), Shell's Coastal Cuisine (which sells a variety of 'floribbean' foods including a Key West shrimp melt, a Cuban pork sandwich and Key Lime pie) and Speedway Eatery (which sells a variety of foods including funnel cakes).
Concessions for the event will be sold by the Jackson Park Elementary School PTO.
Underwriters for the movie include Good Works, St. Louis Connect Care, Shu Feng, Johnson Pediatrics, L.A. Flava, Sexy Buddha Boutique, Subterranean Books, NAPPS, Meshuggah Cafe, Plowsharing Crafts, MacroSun, State Representative Rory Ellinger, Patch, Commerce Bank, Walgreens, Parkview Gardens Association and Mayor Shelley Welsch.
Mayor Welsch worked with University City resident Wilmetta Tolliver-Diallo and Frontyard Features to organize the movie event.
