It will be another two weeks before the next cargo flight from China arrives at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.
The airport welcomed its inaugural China Eastern flight a week ago today.
It brought electronics and computer equipment and flew back with Midwestern-made electronics, pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.
The first flight was to kick off weekly cargo service between St. Louis and Shanghai but next week is a national holiday in China called Golden Week and everything is shut down for a week, said Kathryn Jamboretz, vice president of marketing and communications for the St. Louis County Economic Council.
The weekly service is now scheduled for Mondays, starting Oct. 17, said Jeff Lea, a spokesman for Lambert airport.
Missouri lawmakers' efforts to approve millions of dollars in tax credits to encourage the development of an international trade hub at Lambert have stalled during this month's special legislative session. House Speaker Steven Tilley and Majority Leader Tim Jones said Republicans plan to meet privately as a caucus Wednesday to discuss the economic development package and that a vote of the full House is scheduled for Thursday.
