JUDGE JUDY P. DRAPER, HONORARY KOREAN CONSUL SUPPORTS THE ASIAN COMMUNITY - BEN SONG, KOREAN AMERICAN LAW STUDENT - SELECTED AS SUMMER, 2011 INTERN FOR DIVISION 41

Judge Draper selected Ben Song, Golden Gate University Law School, San Francisco and son of Dr. Kim Song, (KAA Vice President) to serve as a summer "judical intern" in her Court - Division 41 which is located on the second floor in the Clayton Justice Center. The internship provides an opportunity for law students and young lawyers to have an on-hands experience in the courtroom. Judge Draper permits the interns to observe in court and to sit in on discussions with lawyers in the judge's chambers. This opportunity provides not only a true apprenticeship for the student but also provides close observation as to how decisions are made by the judge. This experience also helps them to learn how the practice of law works.
Ben Song along with another intern, Josh Pierson, Washington University Law School had a very special opportunity with Judge Draper this summer. They assisted Judge Draper in writing a legal article. This article is entitled "The Right to a Jury Trial in Municipal Ordinance Violations." The article was well received and applauded by the Municipal lawyers and judges throughout Missouri, and it will be published in the February, 2012 Edition of "BENCHMARK", a well known and respected legal publication distributed statewide. Judge Draper reported that Mr. Song is bright and has quick wit. She commended Ben for his superior research skills and creativity. We look for future good news from Ben Song, soon to be Attorney at Law.
Judge Draper's current Fall Judicial Intern is Lanqin Wang, a law graduate of Shanghai, China Law School and Northwestern Law School, Chicago, Illinois. |
