The City of University City's newly-formed Chamber of Commerce will hold its first official meeting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25 at the Brentmoor, 8600 Delmar Blvd. The meeting is open to the public.
The University City Chamber of Commerce will meet monthly. Meetings will feature networking opportunities and informative business seminars.
"This endeavor was a long time in the making, and we are thrilled that all our efforts have come to fruition. We are very excited for the first official meeting of the University City Chamber of Commerce and welcome the public to join us at the inaugural event," said Ellen Bern, who worked with area businesses to create the University City Chamber of Commerce. "Our mission is to focus on assisting the growth of our existing businesses, encouraging the community to support our local businesses and attracting new businesses to locate in U. City,"
Officers for the University City Chamber of Commerce include President Lars Johnson of SwifTechs; Vice-President of membership, Matt Beaver of Edward Jones; Vice President of Programs, Scott Hoselton of Walgreens; Treasurer Hugo Figuera, of Commerce Bank; and Secretary Linda Locke of Reputare. Directors include Jack Fishman, attorney; Dan Savory; Eric Huang of EMJ Insurance; Ken Rice of American Family; Denise Niemann of the Brentmoor; and Jeff Weintrop of The Silver Lady.
Chamber members and the public can find out more about the Chamber via its web site, which is currently being developed and will be located at www.universitycitychamber.com . The new web site will feature a comprehensive business directory, a community calendar and discounts and coupons for area residents and chamber members. Area businesses who become members with the University City Chamber of Commerce also will receive a free web page that links to the Chamber's site along and phone applications that provide Chamber updates, calendar items and more.
