RCGA projects large financial impact for World Series games

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - The St. Louis Cardinals' 18th World Series appearance will provide tens of millions of dollars in direct economic benefits to the region, the St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association said Monday.
According to Ruth Sergenian, the RCGA's chief economist, the total economy impact for four World Series home games would be $24.4 million or $6.1 million per game. Coupled with the Cardinals' previous games in the Division and Championship series, the team's 2011 playoff run will bring $52 million to the region.
In addition to the World Series' financial impact, the RCGA estimates the regular season resulted in a $313.6 million impact.
