New Ad Hopes To Attract Tourists To St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX) - After being in the national spotlight with the World Series, a new TV commercial is out trying to get folks to visit the Gateway City.

It looks pretty slick. The ad was made for the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission and is already airing in some markets.

It's a 30 second spot and features a plane rolling through some high profile attractions in the St. Louis area. Among the areas featured are Clayton, the Cathedral Basilica, Grant's Farm, Forest Park, the Tivoli and the downtown area, including, of course, the Gateway Arch.

The St. Louis Business Journal is reporting the ad started airing Tuesday in smaller markets within 150 to 200 miles of St. Louis. Those areas include Evansville, Indiana, Paducah, Kentucky and Champaign, Illinois.

The spot will reportedly start airing next spring in Chicago, Memphis, Des Moine and the Quad Cities in Iowa and Illinois.

The Business Journal says the ad cost $150,000 to make.
