(January 3, 2012) Missouri and Illinois each hold two universities on Kiplinger's latest
100 Best Values in Public Colleges List.
No. 23, Truman State University, Kirksville, Mo.
No. 27, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Ill.
No. 79, University of Missouri-Columbia, Mo.
No. 85, University of Illinois at Springfield, Ill.
The rankings appear in Kiplinger's February issue, released today.
Kiplinger's said it combines academics and affordability to produce its list, with data from more than 500 public four-year schools provided by Peterson's/Nelnet augmented by Kiplinger's own reporting. Ranking criteria included admittance rate, four-year graduation rate, total cost for in-state and out-of-state residents, cost after need-based aid, and average debt after graduation.
At No. 1 on the list was the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
