Tax Credits Under China Hub Plan Heads for Missouri House

        JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (KMOX) - China Hub is back at the state capitol.

        The House committee on economic development unanimously passed the tax credits for freight forwarders, which was part of the China Hub proposal last legislative session.

        Bill Sponsor, St. Louis County Representative Mike Leara says it's designed to attract businesses to ship their products out of St. Louis rather than Midwest competitors like Chicago.

        "I believe this is the igniter to creating this type of business out of our airport." said Rep. Leara.

        The tax credits would have a cap of 60 million dollars over eight years.

        The bill now moves on to the House floor

        Bill Sponsor Rep. Mike Leara, a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County, which includes the City of Sunset Hills, Crestwood, Fenton and Grantwood Village (District 95) in the Missouri House of Representatives.

        In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Leara attends Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. He is a member of the Sunset Hills - Crestwood Chamber of Commerce and the Fenton Chamber of Commerce.

        A 1978 graduate of Southwest High School, Rep. Leara attended St. Louis Community College at Meramec and Saint Louis University.

        Born March 27, 1960, Rep. Leara currently resides in unincorporated St. Louis County near Sunset Hills with his wife, Patra. They have four children, Alexis, Michael Jr., Katy and Rob.
