China Hub Still Breathing - Cargo Hub Backers Hope To Launch Freight Incentive Program

After last year's bruising legislative failure to create subsidies for Chinese cargo flights, the project's supporters are trying again, this time side-stepping skeptical state lawmakers. St. Louis County plans to create a $3 million fund designed to lure freight flights to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport - thanks to an unusual series of transactions between the state and the county. The county will pay for the freight incentives by diverting casino tax revenue previously designated for street improvements in Lemay. The state, in turn, will finance the Lemay project with federal flood relief money.
Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chief Dan Mehan has started up the China Hub conversation again. Head of the Commission from County Executive Charlie Dooley𠏋 office Chairman Mike Jones is steping down from his position and a new group will be reorganizing the Midwest China Hub idea and other options to international shippers .Lambert St. Louis International Airport and everyone in the region are hopeing this gets back on course.
Expect less dependence on state aid and focus on more State of Missouri in its entirity as a trade hub. The comission plans to intoduce opening the state for worldwide trade.
There is a need for urgency, Illinois is hotly pursuing everything availablel to help Mid America Airport develop the St.Louis region trade opportunitycreating their strategy as a trade route. The Illinois State Legislators are trying to help with every possibility even developing wholesale fuel.
Though Legislators like Crowell helped kill proposed breaks for the China hub proposal we are convinced there are ideas that can statify most everyone and move this plan in the right direction for Missouri.
