Families are invited to Earth Day: Party for the Planet on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Saint Louis Zoo. Kids can make crafts, join in activities and find out how they can be more "green."
Pick up a map at either Zoo entrance, and head for Earth Day stations around the Zoo. Discover the importance of bugs in Missouri, and make a butterfly finger puppet. Compete in a recycle relay race to see if you meet the three "R" challenge, and learn how to compost your garbage. Experience what it is like to do simple tasks without using your thumbs like the monkeys and apes.
Hear live entertainment by Bob Case in Schnuck Family Plaza. Don't miss special keeper chats, training demonstrations and feedings at various animal exhibits throughout the day. Visit the Zoo's website for a complete schedule.
Admission to the Saint Louis Zoo and Earth Day activities is free. Admission to Emerson Children's Zoo is $4/person. Children under 2 are free.
