        Class Dates: Saturday, 05/26/12 01:00 PM - 03:00 PM Botanical Room at Missouri Botanical Garden

        Class Description:St. Louis' Chinatown was one of many Chinese communities that sprang up across the country, facing many challenges and successes. Join Dr. Huping Ling, author of "Chinese in St. Louis, 1857-2007", as she takes us through a journey that includes loneliness - as individuals left their families in China to come to St. Louis - and community as they bonded together in their home-away-from-home to establish new families and start their own businesses. Book signing at the Garden Gate Shop, 3:00 p.m. Price includes admission to the lantern festival.

        Registration ends May 25 at 4:00 p.m.

        Instructor: Dr. Huping Ling

        Fee:$35 members, $42 nonmembers. This class is a separate event with separate registration required-but attendees at the class will get to stay for Lantern Festival.

        Dr. Ling will also be doing a public book signing on May 25 at 3 p.m. in our Garden Gate Shop. The book signing is included with Lantern Festival Grand Opening Weekend festivities and admission ($22 adults/$10children).
