The City Museum is in the national spotlight again. This time, its claim to fame has more to do with what's on the outside of the building rather than what's inside.

Yahoo Inc.'s Shine publication featured the museum's Monstro City as one of America's coolest playgrounds. The museum calls it a "collision of old and new, architectural castoffs" that includes fire trucks, stone turrets, airplane fuselages and slides of all shapes and sizes.

What other fun playgrounds were mentioned in the article? The Kamakana Playground in Hawaii was featured for its zip line, model train and ship. If you're not a thrill seeker type, Clemyjontri Park in Fairfax County, Va. features a playground for all children, even those with physical disabilities.

Last week, the museum got a nod from USA Today reporter Larry Bleiberg. He ranked the museum as one of 10 places in country for museum mysteries because it houses the exorcist cross that was used at a St. Louis hospital on a boy believed to be possessed by the devil. The cross, which was placed outside the child's room, was later featured in "The Exorcist" book and movie. The copper and zinc Gothic cross is located on the third floor of the museum.

The City Museum opened in 1997 in the converted 600,000-square-foot former International Shoe Co. building. General admission for ages 3 and up is $12 or $10 on Friday and Saturday after 5 p.m
