I recently found a grocery shopper's paradise - the Schnucks Store at Des Peres. As soon as I walked in, I sensed a positive vibe. Freshness, superb quality, wide selections, and relaxing are some thoughts that flood my mind as I witness many food-related events and tons of awesome, free samples that make shopping and dining there a pleasure and an entertainment. It is a world class store offering items at modest prices.
Walking to the bread section, I was enthralled by the freshly cooked muffins smelling so sweet. I found the Pumpkin Chia muffins there. I have always wanted to try the Pumpkin Chia muffin - ever since they were exhibited on the Dr. Oz Show not too long ago. According to Dr. Oz, Pumpkin Chia muffins are a bit lighter and healthier compared to other muffins. They contain high fiber, protein, omega3, iron, calcium and magnesium. Chia seeds may reduce the risk of certain types of cancer and provide protection against heart disease. In the Des Peres store, all muffins and breads are made from scratch in the store using less fattening ingredients. Truly, nothing beats a hot, just-out-of-the-oven, extra-jumbo-sized, delicious and healthy muffin that is perfect for any occasions.
I went there on an early weekend morning and found the breakfast area packed. On the menu there were smoked salmon hash, scrambled egg, sunny side up eggs, smoked salmon quesadilla, and breakfast quesadilla. I love smoked salmon hash. The breakfast at the Schnucks Store just rocks. Lunch at Bistro Grill was equally phenomenal. There were so many freshly made sandwiches that my eyes were delirious with the choices. The flavorful bison burger was so delicious and it was only $7.99. The size of the burger was such that it could feed two hungry shoppers. I also really enjoyed the salmon: juicy and fresh. The food was restaurant quality at a home-made price. You just cannot beat it.
There were so many events going on in the store, like the holiday design class and the cooking class. During weekends, it should be a good place to relax as you listen to beautiful music while you shop and eat there.
The Schnucks Store is also a heaven for wine lovers and pizza lovers. The wine open house lets you taste many amazing wines with the myriad of free samples around the store. And, if you want to be creative, you could grab anything ingredient from the store and make an amazing pizza to suit your taste buds. It was really awesome.
Lastly, Its al fresco dining offers one of the best deals in town. The place rocks on Friday and Saturday evenings when entertainment in the store liven up the whole shopping experience. Take your family to the store and check it out: gourmet food, beautiful music, unbelievable prices, and 5-star services. You will be really pampered there and will not want to go to any other grocery stores to shop. Such is a Wonderful Life in Des Peres.
