UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOX) - Has the Delmar Loop trolley hit a bump in the tracks?
The University City Traffic Commission Wednesday, January 9, 2013 night held-off on approving plans for the street-car line, asking that the Loop Trolley Co. replace nine parking spots on Delmar Blvd. that the tracks would replace.
Joe Edwards also had to face residents, skeptical about possible traffic tie-ups.
"Its really no different as far as traffic itself goes than a bus," said Edwards. "Buses will stop and unload. And every twenty minutes perhaps a trolley might come by and do the same thing."
On the bright side, Edwards says the loss of a million dollar donation from the Missouri History Museum, is a casualty of the unrelated land-swap scandal, but it won't derail the project.
"We're OK. Anytime you don't get a million dollar pledge is always a little frustrating, but we have enough contingency built in. I'm confident everything is fine."
Edwards says he hopes to begin laying track by late spring, meaning an opening date of the summer of 2014. |
